Biography

I am a fine art photographer who specialises in black and white photography and hand printing in the darkroom. I am Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in the Visual Arts Category. My work has been exhibited in the UK & NZ with works in private collections across the globe. My pictures have also featured in photography books, magazines and my own book Light Sensitive.

The majority of my pictures are unplanned, I prefer to work intuitively, responding to what I see and feel. I strive not only to record the essence of a place but also to convey a more personal and creative impression of the subject. ‘Light’ is always an inspiration for me; I am very responsive to its ever-changing qualities and the interplay between this and my subject. Whether subtle or dramatic, the small changes in light breathe life, sensitivity and emotion into the pictures.
